Hillary Clinton's Scandalous Record

--
Hillary-Clinton-at-Press-Conference-on-Her-Erased-Emails-While-Secretary-of-State

Kathleen Willey is a former White House volunteer. She said Bill Clinton sexually assaulted her during his first term in office – in his Oval Office private study.

She created "A Scandal a day" web site. Her book titled "Target: Caught in the Crosshairs of Bill and Hillary Clinton" became a best seller.

Willey created her web site to alert Americans about "the potential danger of Hillary Clinton becoming president." Among an array of rogue presidential aspirants, she stands out as especially abhorrent – a menace to world peace, stability and security as well as what remains of homeland freedoms.

Perhaps scandals haunting her will derail her presidential ambitions. The Wall Street Journal revealed another one, headlining "UBS Deal Shows Clinton's Complicated Ties."

In return for intervening on behalf of Swiss banking giant UBS in a case involving an IRS suit seeking identities of Americans with secret accounts believed to be possible tax cheats, the Clinton Foundation got "large contributions…and a fat paycheck for Bill Clinton to participate in question-and-answer session(s) with" top bank officials – a clear conflict of interest.

The IRS wanted names of 52,000 accounts. Clinton got the number reduced to 4,450. UBS contributions to her foundation increased from less than $60,000 in 2008 to about $600,000 by yearend 2014.

It loaned a foundation initiative "to launch entrepreneurship and inner-city programs" $32 million. It paid Bill Clinton $1.5 million for a series of private Q & A sessions.

Hillary's involvement with UBS "is a prime example of how (she and husband Bill's) private and political activities," perhaps cross the line – potentially illegally, said the Journal.

"UBS is just one of a series of companies that engaged with both the Clinton family's charitable organization and the State Department under Mrs. Clinton." In this case, she intervened on behalf of a foreign bank, "not a popular constituency among Democrats."

Mixing foundation contributions with fundraising reflects a disturbing Clinton family practice – selling influence for huge sums.

Law Professor Lawrence Lessig said they "engaged in behavior to make people wonder: What was this about?" What other than what's been revealed.

UBS officials lied claiming no connection between their IRS case and foundation donations. along with lucrative sums to husband Bill. A Swiss embassy in Washington spokeswoman declined comment.

In May 2008, former UBS banker Bradley Birkenfeld was indicted for arranging "fictitious trusts and bogus corporations to conceal the ownership and control of offshore assets. (He) advised clients to destroy bank records and helped them file false tax returns…"

In January 2010, he began serving a three-year, four-month sentence for blowing the whistle on one of the largest tax fraud schemes in US history.

He was the first insider ever to explain the secretive world of Swiss banking. He said 90% of his UBS clients were tax cheats. Senior bank officials ignored criminality for profits.

Birkenfeld said he exposed 19,000 international criminals with accounts worth over $19 billion.

"The disclosure led UBS to enter into a deferred-prosecution agreement with the Justice Department in 2009," said the Journal.

"The bank admitted to helping set up sham companies, creating phony paperwork and deceiving customs officials. It paid a $780 million fine and turned over the names of 250 account holders."

Another 52,000 accounts worth $18 billion remained secret in a dispute with the IRS. Clinton's role in resolving things was more extensive than earlier reported. She got involved at least in part over "separate diplomatic concerns," said the Journal.

She met with Swiss Foreign Minister Micheline Calmy-Rey. Switzerland's Tehran embassy represented US interests since 1979. Iranian issues were discussed – including a jailed US journalist, the Swiss energy consulting company Colenco allegedly violating US sanctions, and so-called "low-risk" Guantanamo detainees Clinton wanted Switzerland to take.

Its government responded to her concerns favorably. Out-of-court negotiations to settle the UBS case resolved it. Clinton pressure was apparently heavy-handed. Calmy-Rey said the US-Swiss relationship was at stake.

On Friday, a deal in principle was announced at the State Department. The Justice Department and IRS dropped the lawsuit, settling things under a US-Swiss treaty. UBS agreed to reveal names of only 4,450 of 52,000 secret accounts.

Calmy-Rey called resolution a "Peace Treaty." UBS was pleased. So were thousands of US tax cheats. Large sums of bank cash flowed to the Clintons for services rendered.

Former Justice Department lawyer Stu Gibson in charge of prosecuting UBS said the process leading to resolution "raises questions that need to be addressed, or should be addressed." If the Clintons violated US laws, accountability should follow.

Understanding "Oil Qaeda". Using "Terrorism" as a Pretext to Wage War on Oil Rich Countries

--
Saboteurs Slow Iraq's Major Oil Producer

In The Al Qaeda Network: A New Framework For DefiningThe Enemy, Katherine Zimmerman of the American Enterprise Institute describes the terrorist groups affiliated with Al Qaeda. Zimmerman is seen as a leading expert on the Al Qaeda network, having testified about it to Congress and written about it for The Washington Post, the Weekly Standard, and the Huffington Post.

Al Qaeda region 2In her analysis, Zimmerman identified the geographical locations of the groups said to be within the Al Qaeda network. These locations outline an area encompassing parts of Northern Africa and all of the Middle East. This region, in which the entire Al Qaeda network is based, represents about 15% of the total land on planet earth.

What is special about this land that might lead its inhabitants to a life of terrorism? Some, including Zimmerman, say that this region correlates to the land of Islam and that therefore the correlation is simply an indication that Muslims are prone to terrorism.

However, the known distribution of the world's population of Muslims does not support that contention. According to the Pew Research Center, only about 55% of the world's Muslims live inside the Al Qaeda network region.

The other possibility is that, since the area is rich in untapped resources, powerful people have used claims of terrorism as a pretext to invade. That possibility is definitely supported by evidence. For example, ten years after the U.S. invasion of Iraq, U.S. officials began openly admitting that the war in Iraq was motivated by the desire to seize oil. U.S. military leaders including General John Abizaid, head of the U.S. military in Iraq, and Defense Secretary Chuck Hagel have said that the war was about oil. Even former Federal Reserve Bank Chairman Alan Greenspan admitted it.

Geographical correlation also supports this possibility much better. When the region outlined by Zimmerman's Al Qaeda network is superimposed on a map of oil reserves by country, over 70% of the world's oil reserves fall within the same area.

If one considers only oil reserves that are not yet fully within the control of the world's superpowers (the U.S., Russia, China, and the E.U.), about 90% of what is left is within Zimmerman's region. Only Venezuela, with 6.5% of the remaining oil, stands out. It is therefore not surprising that the U.S. government has recently declared Venezuela to be a national security threat.

The strong correlation between Al Qaeda and oil suggests that the terrorist group might be better named Oil Qaeda. However, the truth is a little more complex. As reported before, the geopolitical significance of this relatively small part of the world is as much about natural gas as it is about oil. Other critical resources, including lithium and gold, are motivators for those wanting control of the region.

Moreover, it has been seen that the invasion of Afghanistan probably had something to do with that country having the ideal climate for the production of opium. Just before the U.S. invasion in 2001, the Taliban had essentially eradicated the production of opium in Afghanistan. Under the U.S. occupation, opium production has reached record levels and the country now supplies 90% of the world's heroin.

There's no doubt that the Al Qaeda network serves multiple purposes. For those who want simple answers, there will continue to be propaganda about the region's problems with "Islamic terrorism." For those who can still think and see, it's becoming increasingly clear that Al Qaeda and its associated network is largely an excuse for seizing resources.

Not only Bengal,Not Only India,Asia suffers from floods unabated! Hundreds dead, 1 million displaced as monsoon rains hit Myanmar, India, Pakistan!Monsoon rains have claimed the lives of hundreds of people across Asia as rescue workers scrambled to reach remote areas of India, Pakistan and Myanmar in the wake of flash floods and landslides.

High Tides waterlogged Belur Math as whole of Bengal seems to be under water as Mamata Banerjee keeps on vigil andtakes pain to reach among the masses stung by unprecedented calamity.

Authorities in India said more than 120 people had died across the country in recent days.

More than a million have been displaced by rains worsened by a cyclone that barrelled through the Bay of Bengal last week.

At least 75 people have died and tens of thousands have had to take refuge in state-run relief camps after heavy rains caused floods and landslides in eastern India, government officials and aid groups said on Monday.

Exacerbated by Cyclone Komen which struck the east coast on Friday, the rainfall has made major rivers overflow, inundating villages in parts of West Bengal, Odisha and Manipur states. The rains also caused a landslide in Manipur, killing 21 people.

"In the last four years, there has been no flood like this year. So far, we have witnessed man-made floods and we have restricted them quite successfully. But the situation at present is rendered beyond control," Mamata Banerjee, chief minister of West Bengal, the worst affected state, told reporters on Sunday.

Banerjee said the release of water from over-full dams in the neighboring states of Jharkhand and Odisha had worsened the flooding in West Bengal, where at least 49 people have died.

Around 200,000 people have been shifted to relief camps in districts such as Burdwan, Hoogly, Howrah and North 24 Parganas in West Bengal, and plastic sheets and dry food rations have been dispatched to survivors, one official said.

Flood situation in south Bengal districts remained grim on Monday after fresh water was released from different barrages, compounding the woes of over 37 lakh people in 12 affected districts.

West Bengal chief minister Mamata Banerjee, who stayed at state secretariat Nabanna overnight to personally monitor the flood situation, would visit Habra and Ashoknagar areas of North 24 Parganas to monitor the relief and rescue operations there.

"Flood situation in the state still remained a matter of concern after fresh water was released from different barrages since last night. High tides worsened the situation," state irrigation minister Rajib Banerjee told PTI.

Among others DVC has itself released 90000 cusecs of water since midnight last night, the minister added.

Television pictures showed people carrying bags packed with possessions as they waded through knee-high water, villagers standing on the banks of rising rivers and scores of children sitting in lines in a camp being fed rice and lentils.

India has monsoon rains from June to September, which are vital for agriculture. But the rains often cause damage affecting millions of people, devastating crops, destroying homes and sparking outbreaks of diseases such as diarrhea.

In the remote northeastern state of Manipur, many parts of Thoubal and Chandel districts have also been affected by the rains, aid agencies said.

"A massive landslide triggered by heavy rainfall in Chandel district swept away one village claiming about 21 lives so far," a situation report from Sphere India, a network of humanitarian agencies, said.

Officials said teams from the National Disaster Management Response Force and the army had been sent on search and rescue operations but roads and bridges had been washed away, making it difficult to reach stranded survivors.

In Odisha, where floods have disrupted more than half a million people's lives, state disaster management officials said they believed the worst was over.

"We had evacuated about 2,000 people during the floods last week but all of them returned to their homes. The situation has improved in most of the areas," Odisha Deputy Relief Commissioner Prabhat Ranjan Mohapatra told the Thomson Reuters Foundation.

On Monday rescuers resumed their search for villagers after downpours caused a landslide in remote north-eastern Manipur, where an official said four bodies have been recovered from a hamlet buried by a collapsed hill.

In neighbouring Myanmar, the belt of heavy seasonal rains — augmented by Cyclone Komen — have killed 46 people so far and affected more than 200,000 with much of the country languishing under rooftop-high floods.

The government there has focused relief and rescue efforts on four "national disaster-affected regions" in central and western Myanmar, where villagers have been forced to use canoes and makeshift rafts to escape the rising waters.

Thousands of others are already in camps for the displaced including in Kalay, Sagaing Region, where residents told of unusually powerful flood waters swamping homes in hours.

"We've lost all that we have. Our house is still under water," Htay Shein said from a temporary shelter in Kalay.

"We have seen floods, but never anything like this before. This year is the worst."

The United Nations warned swollen rivers were threatening more areas of the country, adding it could be days before the true extent of the disaster emerged.

"Logistics are extremely difficult. Assessment teams are having a hard time reaching affected areas," said Pierre Peron, Myanmar spokesman for the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs.

Landslides in Chin state — south of Sagaing — have destroyed 700 homes in the state capital Hakha, according to the state-run Global New Light of Myanmar.

President Thein Sein promised the government would do its utmost to provide relief, but said parts of Chin had been cut off from surrounding areas, the report added.

Rains have also battered the western state of Rakhine which already hosts about 140,000 displaced people, mainly Rohingya Muslims, who live in exposed coastal camps following deadly 2012 unrest between the minority group and Buddhists.

Limitations facing search and rescue

The annual monsoon is a lifeline for farmers across the region but the rains and frequent powerful cyclones that usher them in can also prove deadly.

Poor infrastructure and limited search and rescue capabilities routinely hamper relief efforts across the region, more so as roads, phone lines and electricity are knocked out by rising waters.

India, which receives nearly 80 per cent of its annual rainfall from June to September, sees tragedy strike every monsoon season.

This year West Bengal has been hit hard with 48 people killed, according to state management minister Javed Ahmad Khan.

"More than 1.8 million people in 5,600 villages have been affected by the flooding ... nearly 1.1 million have been moved to camps," Mr Khan said.

"If there are no rains, the water level will come down in the next few days."

Pakistan, which has suffered deadly floods around the same time every year since 2010 — when the country was struck by the worst inundations in its history — has seen 116 people die so far.

Ahmed Kamal, spokesman for Pakistan's National Disaster Management Agency (NDMA) told AFP that more than 850,000 people had been affected by this year's floods.

Dozens have also perished in Nepal and Vietnam following floods and landslides.

In Vietnam toxic mudslides from flood-hit coal mines in the northern province of Quang Ninh, home to the UNESCO-listed Halong Bay tourist site, claimed the lives of two families and spewed coal into town centres.

Death penalty is not a deterrent, abolish it

Death penalty is not a deterrent, abolish it

e same measure we cut off his sorrows and humiliation….Death is an asylum, impregnable against punishment."

By contrast, between 2000 and 2015, 1,617 people were sentenced to death by the trial courts in India. This is the state of affairs in spite of the 'rarest of rare' doctrine. The shocking findings of the latest study by National Law University, Delhi, have clearly proved that just like in the United States, the death penalty in India is basically used against the poor, marginalised and minorities. Blacks who killed whites were three times more likely to get the death penalty than whites who killed blacks.

The criminal law is described as 'an island of technicality in a sea of discretion'. The police have the discretion in arrest; the prosecutor as to whether to prosecute and if so, for what crime. The judges have the discretion as to sentence. The President and the governor too have the discretion in pardoning powers. Should the decision to kill be left to discretion?

For centuries the death penalty was not debated so far as its legitimacy was concerned. Its acceptance in ancient societies seems to have depended on two fundamental principles: First, insignificant values attached to human life or, at least, to the life of any particular individual. Second, the death of the criminal was considered to be just and necessary under the principle of retribution.

Thorsten Sellin in the US conducted a study of crime rates and trends, which showed that the abolition or the re-establishment of capital punishment never led to an abrupt and appreciable rise (or fall) in criminality. In 18th century England even pick-pocketing was punishable with death. Even when the offender was being hanged, there were sharpers ready to pickpocket those who delighted themselves as spectators at the scene of the execution.

The constituent assembly did debate the death penalty and its leading members favoured abolition. Shibban Lal Saxena, who himself was on death row for 26 months and had seen 37 persons being hanged, forcefully argued that at least seven of them were innocent. BR Ambedkar, Frank Antony and Thakur Das Bhargava too argued for the abolition but eventually the matter was left to the decision of Parliament.

Justice Bhagwati rightly said that the death penalty is arbitrary, as it depends on the subjective decision of judges and composition of benches. It depends on their attitude, predilections and preconceptions, their value system and social philosophy. In Memon's case, the difference in justice Dave's and justice Joseph's approach was clearly visible.

In the SKS Bariyar vs State of Maharashtra case, justice SB Sinha held that in all cases, including the most brutal and heinous crimes, the circumstances pertaining to the 'criminal' should be given full weight. In DPS Bhullar's case, the court held that the criminal deserved no sympathy in spite of flaws in prosecution and trial. The Supreme Court has itself admitted that seven of its death penalty judgments were rendered per incuriam (out of error or ignorance) and were contrary to the 'rarest of rare'. The court has also accepted that it has been inconsistent with using the 'rarest of rare' scenario. In fact on the commutation of the death sentence, the court has been consistently inconsistent.

The apex court's logic of giving death in the Afzal Guru case to meet the so-called 'conscience of the nation' has also been criticised. Public opinion is indeed irrelevant to the 'rarest of rarest' doctrine as it is neither an objective circumstance relating to 'crime' nor to the 'criminal'.

As a matter of fact it would be a terrible thing if a man has been hanged for a crime that he has not committed; in such a case, the law itself would be a murderer. The number of convicts sent to the gallows and afterwards proved to be innocent has been counted by thousands in the western world alone.

Moreover, the death penalty is not a punishment as it indeed results in sympathy for the criminal. People forget the crimes of the convicts and remember only what happens at the end — the execution of the death sentence. The convict to some extent becomes a hero. The Kehar Singh case is a glaring example as most editorials had termed it a 'shame' or 'judicial murder'. Even about Memon, editorials have argued that since he did not participate in the actual act of the blasts, he came back and surrendered to police and there was only circumstantial evidence against him and that too of the co-accused in police custody, the test of the 'rarest of rare' was not fully satisfied.

Human judgments are never so certain as to permit society to kill a human being judged by other human beings. Let us not deprive ourselves of any chance to redeem our errors. Let the Modi government, which is repealing obsolete laws, take the bold initiative of abolishing the death penalty as well.

Faizan Mustafa is vice-chancellor, NALSAR University of Law, Hyderabad. The views expressed are personal.

Mool se sooda pyaar. Chyala hai Nati pyaarr

‪#‎NagaPeaceAccord‬
