नरसिंहपुर। एक तो 13-14 साल के बच्चों से 12-13 घंटे कार्य, दूसरा बदले में सिर्फ 22 रु. रोजाना। यह जुर्म-शोषण नामी होटलों के मालिक कर रहे हैं। सोमवार को पुलिस और महिला बाल विकास की टीम ने एक दर्जन से अधिक होटलों, वाहनों के मैकेनिकों, मिस्त्रियों की गैराजों पर अचानक दबिश दी तो होटलों-गैरेजों में बड़ी संख्या में कम उम्र के बच्चे कार्य करते मिले।
बाल सुरक्षा दिवस पर अचानक पुलिस और प्रशासन की कुंभकर्णीय तंद्रा टूटी तो उसने मुख्यालय में करीब एक दर्जन से ज्यादा होटलों और वाहन के मिस्त्रियों, मैकेनिकों की गैराजों पर दबिश दी तो कई होटलों और गैराजों में कम उम्र के बच्चे कार्य करते मिले। सोमवार को पुलिस अधीक्षक के निर्देशन में उपनिरीक्षक बीएस पटैल (जुनाईल ब्रांच), उपनिरीक्षक संतोषी, आरक्षक रश्मि स्थापक, संध्या सोनी आदि की टीम ने नगर की होटलों राजभोग होटल, विजय नेमा की होटल, गया ट्रेडर्स, चंद्रलोक होटल, राजू मिस्त्री की दुकान, राजू साहू मिस्त्री, गुरूद्वारा चौक पर एक चाय की दुकान पर और अन्य स्थानों पर दबिश दी।
इस दौरान राजभोग होटल से टीम को 2 नाबालिग कार्य करते मिले। इसमें से एक छिंदवाड़ा जिले का एक पिछड़े इलाके का है, दूसरा गणेश मंदिर तलापार का निवासी है। विजय नेमा की होटल से किसानी वार्ड का एक 13-14 वर्षीय बालक मिला जबकि एक गया ट्रेडर्स के यहां से एक 17 वर्षीय नाबालिग भी कार्य करते पाया गया। चंद्रलोक होटल से जैतपुर का रहने वाला एक 17 वर्षीय आदिवासी नाबालिग युवक कार्य करते मिला।
जबकि राजू मैकेनिक के यहां से एक 13 साल का लड़का, सांकल रोड में राजू मिस्त्री के यहां से 15 साल का एवं गुरूद्वारा चौक पर चौकसे की चाय की दुकानें से भी नाबालिग लड़के काम करते मिले। जबकि स्टेशन से एक 12 साल के बालक को उसके पिता भीख मंगवाते पकड़ा गया। रेलवे स्टेशन के पास से ही एक 5 वर्षीय बालक, सिंधी कालोनी और कृषि फार्म स्टेशन के पास 5-5 साल के दो बालक, एक लड़की 7 साल की और एक 10 साल का लड़का भी कार्य करते और घूमते पकड़े गए।
सभी नाबालिग-अव्यस्क बच्चों को बाल संरक्षण अधिकारी एवं महिला सशक्तिकरण अधिकारी अरूण प्रताप सिंह तथा बाल कल्याण समिति से जुड़े विभिन्न पदाधिकारियों, अध्यक्ष संध्या कोठारी, सदस्य प्रवीणा गोस्वामी, दिव्या नेमा, बृजेन्द्र सिंह कौरव, रश्मि ठाकुर, सुभाष गुप्ता आदि के समक्ष लाया गया। जहां बच्चों से पूछताछ हुई। उनका कुशलक्षेम जानते हुए उनके भोजन आदि की व्यवस्था भी की गई। इस दौरान कुछ बच्चों को उनके परिजनों को इस शर्त के साथ सुपुर्द किया गया कि अगर मासूम-नाबालिग बच्चों से काम कराते दोबारा पाया गया तो उनके खिलाफ बाल संरक्षण अधिनियम के तहत कार्रवाई की जाएगी।
दिया आवेदन, दे रहे थे प्रशिक्षण
बच्चों के पकड़े जाने पर उनमें से 2 बच्चों का एक अभिभावक भी पहुंचा, जिसने लिखित तौर पर दलील दी कि मिस्त्रीगिरी के लिए वह बच्चों को प्रशिक्षण दे रहा था। नाबालिग बालिका को उसकी मां के सुपुर्द संरक्षण में और एक नाबालिग को खुला आश्रयग्रह विपतपुरा में भेजा गया।

IIT Bombay forms Ambedkar-Periyar-Phule Study Circle
Protests against the decision of IIT Madras administration to ban the Ambedkar-Periyar Study Circle (APSC) spread to Mumbaion Monday with over a hundred students from different institutions staging a rally at the Dadar station here.
"We see nothing wrong with what APSC has done. It is not a new group. We condemn the decision to ban it. Even if you think they did something wrong, they should have been given a fair hearing. This is just one visible instance of the administration's autocratic behaviour. This issue is not limited to IIT Madras alone. Across IITs, there are various problems, such as poor implementation of the reservation systems, absence of Dalit faculty and so on. What does it mean when they say IITs are not political? Everything is political. To be political is my right," Kranthi Kumar, a Ph.D. scholar from IIT Bombay told The Hindu.
In response to the ban, students from IIT Bombay have formed an Ambedkar-Periyar-Phule Study Circle, which staged its first protest on campus on Sunday.
"Even though we stood silently with posters, the IIT security personnel, administration and the police threatened us with adverse action. We were told to remove the mention of the HRD Ministry from our posters. So the message is 'don't say anything against the government'. It is very important for students across campuses to come together," Paanki Agrawal from IIT Bombay said.
Protesters chanted the slogans such as, 'when will achche din come?', 'long live Ambedkar and Periyar', 'down with casteism' and demanded a revocation of the ban.
"We express our solidarity with the study circle and with the aim of annihilation of the caste system. Silencing of voices is a dangerous step," said Bodhayan Roy from the Marxist study circle at the Tata Institute of Fundamental Research.
"Such bans," pointed out Sunija M.V. from the Tata Institute of Social Sciences (TISS), "will obstruct the support system of marginalised students on campuses. As a result you will see more student suicides."
Students also questioned the irony of demonising the ideas of Dr. Ambedkar, the architect of the Constitution.
"Are we living in dualism?" asked Jackson Khumukcham from TISS. "It is time to think about the kind of education we want to impart. " he said.

Depriving people of the right to express moral outrage through boycotts—as Canada's Harper government intends to do with critics of Israel—increases the probability that some will resort to violence as a means of political expression, writes Robert Fisk at The Independent.
Of course, some politicians welcome increases in violence because the ensured existence of a lively "enemy" provides them with justification for maintaining and expanding their power. (See the ongoing U.S. "War on Terror.") Not a small number of politicians build their entire careers on this premise.
Fisk continues:
[T]he totally pro-Israeli Conservative government of Stephen Harper intends to list the boycotting of Israel as a "hate crime". This is not only ludicrous, stupid, pointless and racist because it assumes that anyone opposed to Israel's vicious and iniquitous policies of land-grabbing in the West Bank is an anti-Semite, but it is also anti-democratic. Those who believe in non-violence have always espoused boycott movements on the grounds that economic pressure rather than bombs is a moral way of putting pressure on a country that violates international law. …
This is preposterous. If I decline to buy Israeli-produced oranges at a British supermarket, this doesn't make me a Nazi murderer. To criticise Israel doesn't turn Canadians into Jew-haters. A number of liberal Jewish groups have protested against Harper's proposed extension of existing 'hate laws' – far too many Jewish organisations have praised it – on the grounds that it assumes that all Jews support Israel or approve of its actions. And since Jews are also members of boycott-Israel groups, Harper's expanded definition of the law would have to put Jews on trial in Canada for anti-Semitism. …
The dark little catch in all this is that last year Canada changed its definition of hate speech to include statements made against "national origin", not just race and religion. Thus statements or speeches critical of Israel – like a number of public lectures I have given in Canada – may now be classed as statements against Jews (even though Jews are often among the organisers of my own speaking engagements in America). And, in due course, editorials in papers such as the Toronto Star can be deemed anti-Semitic and thus worthy of being denounced as a "hate-crime".
This extended definition of 'hate crime' will put a lot of civil society groups under the cosh. The United Church of Canada and Canadian Quakers could find themselves in court and judges, however much they personally recoiled from Israel's abuse of Palestinians, would have to abide by this outrageous piece of legislation and exercise "zero tolerance" against the free speech of those who condemn war crimes by Israel in the Middle East.

Kobad Ghandy, who was arrested in Delhi in 2009 on charges of being a member of the banned Communist Party of India (Maoist), has been on hunger strike in Tihar Jail since Saturday to protest what he has described as harassment by the authorities.
Sixty eight-year-old Ghandy said that the jail authorities had transferred him three times between different wards of the jail over the past nine months in what he viewed as a bid to target his failing health. He says that he suffers from a heart problem, blood pressure, a slipped disc, arthritis and a kidney condition, among other illnesses.
He has been booked under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act and Indian Penal Code for a variety of offences, including impersonation, cheating and forgery. He is facing trial in 20 other cases around the country.
Ghandy had been arrested from Bikaji Kama place in Delhi in September 2009. At the time of his arrest, he had been undergoing treatment for a kidney ailment. His lawyers alleged that he had been illegally detained and tortured for four days before he was officially shown as arrested.
In March, an additional sessions judge in Delhi had directed the jail superintendent to facilitate medical treatment for the ailing Ghandy.
An unlikely rebel
Ghandy was born into a wealthy Parsi family, which owned an ice cream factory, among other businesses. He studied in Doon School and Mumbai's St Xavier's College before heading to London to study chartered accountancy. It was in London that he first saw Marxist groups fighting racism and got attracted to the ideology. After returning to India in the 1970s, he began working with tribals and the rural poor in various parts of the country. He was a member of the Maoist People's War Group but claims he was expelled from it in 1987.
In a letter to the director of the National Human Rights Commission in November 2011, Gandhi appealed that he should be treated like a political prisoner and not a convicted criminal., "In the entire chargesheet there is no charge of violence," he said. "There is no charge of any criminal activity or criminal intent, which is normally accompanied with charges under the UAPA. I have merely been put behind bars for my views and my work amongst the poor, who comprise 80% of our people."
He added, "Incidentally the views (Maoist or Marxist) are not banned and freely available!"

"I am 68 years and I have spent five and a half years in Tihar with the Delhi case nearing completion. Though routine (3 to 5 months) transfers of High Risk Ward prisoners have been going on for 4 years, I was subjected to this only from August '14. This is the third time in 9 months. Earlier, jail transfers were done only as a form of punishment.
I have a heart problem, B.P., slip disc, arthritis, spondylitis, kidney, and numerous other health problems – all of which are increasing specifically after August '14.
While transferring we have to carry our bags ourselves (some 10-15 kg) go through set of detailed searches of all items, made to hang around at the jail gates for 4-5 hours waiting for the transport, packed like sardines with baggage into a single van and taken to the new jail gate.
In the two more detailed searches, again to carry all items ourselves to the ward etc. One has to go through mulaaza (medical check) done for a new entrant. Then a scramble for cells, with the later arrivals getting the worst. Then at least 2-3 days goes in cleaning the filthy cell and arranging the baggage (no help given).
In the new jail all medical treatment gets interrupted, medical diet and other permissions have to be applied anew as also the bed and western toilet. This can take from a few days to months. Also, the Vodaphone facility has to be started anew. Barely has one settled in, and adjusted with the new lot of criminals (some of whom can be pretty nasty) when the next transfer comes and the whole process repeated.
The May 30th transfer [was] done in the midst of examination for a heart problem at the GB Pant Hospital.
Since the 2012 High Court order to Tihar to take better care of Senior Citizens (above 65), I have been applying to be put in the Senior Citizens' ward, or given similar facilities in the High Risk ward – but to no avail. On the contrary, while at first they never transferred me, they resorted to this since Aug '14, obviously as a method of harassment and to destroy my health.
As all the appeals, on both humanitarian and legal grounds have been ignored, I, as a last resort, have had to go on an indefinite hunger strike since the last transfer on May 30th."

অবশেষে হিসেব মেলানোর সময় এসেছে। বিএনপির ভেতরে এখন সেই প্রশ্নটিই প্রকাশ্য হয়েছে, যা গুঞ্জরিত হচ্ছিল জনান্তিকে। শেষতক প্রতিষ্ঠাকালীন মহাসচিব ও সাবেক রাষ্ট্রপতি ডা: বদরুদ্দোজা চৌধুরী এবং রাজনীতির অনেক ঘটন-অঘটন পটিয়সী ব্যারিষ্টার মওদুদ আহমেদ বলেই ফেলেছেন - 'এই বিএনপি দিয়ে হবে না'। যে কথাটি বলার কথা ছিল ২০০১-৬ মেয়াদে, বিএনপির কোন নেতাই তখন বলেননি যে, এই বিএনপি সেই বিএনপি নয়। কারণ বিএনপি তখন রাষ্ট্র ক্ষমতায়। দেশ শাসন করছেন তারেক জিয়া। হাওয়া ভবন তখন ক্ষমতার মূল কেন্দ্রে। এই নেতারাই ব্যস্ত তারেকের চাটুকারিতায় আর স্তাবকতায়। তৎকালীন রাষ্ট্রপতি বি, চৌধুরীকে যখন তারেকের ইচ্ছায় অপসারণ করা হয় তখনও কেউই মুখ খোলেননি। এমনকি দল থেকে বের করে দেবার পরেও না। জঙ্গীবাদের উত্থানের সাথে বিএনপির অনেক নেতার নাম জড়িয়ে পড়লো, তখনও এই নেতৃত্ব মুখ খোলেনি। বরং বলে এসেছে, দেশে জঙ্গীবাদের অস্তিত্ব নেই, এটি মিডিয়ার সৃষ্টি।
২০০৪ সালে তৎকালীন বিরোধীদলীয় নেতার জনসভায় গ্রেনেড হামলার পরে তদন্ত বিচারের নামে যে নাটক সাজান হয়েছিল, বিএনপির এই নেতৃত্ব তার বিরুদ্ধে প্রতিবাদ করেননি। ২০০৬ সালে জিয়া হত্যায় কথিত অভিযুক্ত এরশাদের সাথে তারেক জিয়া যখন সহযোগিতার জন্য দেখা করেছেন, তখন ঐ নেতৃত্ব মুখে কুলুপ এঁটে বসেছিল। লালু, ভুলু, দুলু, ফালু,সাকা দিয়ে দেশ চালানো হচ্ছিল - সবাই বুঝেছিলেন এদের দিয়ে দেশ চলে না। বুঝতে পারছিলেন না শুধু খালেদা জিয়া ও তার পুত্র তারেক জিয়া। তাদের কেউ বোঝানোর দায়িত্ব নেয়নি যে, এই বিএনপি দিয়ে দেশ চলে না।
দলের, রাজনৈতিক নেতৃত্বের বদলে একক কর্তৃত্বে যেদিন হাওয়া ভবনের সৃষ্টি, সেদিন থেকেই শুরু হয় বিএনপির পতন, দল হিসেবে বিএনপি সামিল হয় বিনাশী যাত্রায়। তারেক জিয়া প্রধানমন্ত্রী না হয়েও দেশ ও দলকে ক্রমাগত বিপদের মধ্যে নিয়ে গেছেন - এ আলোচনা এখন যেমন বিএনপিতে অনেকটাই প্রকাশ্য, পদ-পদবী হারানোর ভয়ে মাতৃস্নেহান্ধ পুত্রের কর্মকান্ডের বিষয়ে কেউই মুখ খোলেননি। বরং তারেক জিয়া তাদের কাছে হয়ে উঠেছিলেন স্নেহের ভাতিজা, ভাইয়া, যুবরাজ, ক্রাউন প্রিন্স - দল ও দেশের ভবিষ্যত কান্ডারী। দুর্নীতি-দুর্বৃত্তায়নের ফাঁদে ফেলে ২০০১-৬ মেয়াদে দেশকে ক্রমাগত পিছিয়ে দি"িচ্ছলেন তারেক, মামুন,হারিস গং, সর্বোপরি বিএনপি-জামায়াত জোটের গাঁটছড়া। তখন রাষ্ট্র ক্ষমতায় অধিষ্ঠিত প্রতিষ্ঠাকালীন বিএনপি নেতৃত্ব সবকিছুই মেনে নিয়েছিলেন অবলীলায়। বোঝেননি এই বিএনপি ভবিষ্যতে কোথায় গিয়ে দাঁড়াতে পারে!
২০০৭ সালে 'সেনা-সিভিল'অভ্যূত্থানে গঠিত সরকারের সময় একেবারেই বিপর্যস্ত, দল দু'ভাগ এবং ২০০৮ সালের নভেম্বরের নির্বাচনে পরাস্ত বিএনপি নেতৃত্ব বুঝতে পারেননি - এই বিএনপি দিয়ে হবে না। ২০১৫ সালের মাঝামাঝি সময়ে এসে এখন তারা বুঝতে পারছেন, হবে না, এই বিএনপি দিয়ে হবে না। এই বিএনপি অর্থাৎ তারেক জিয়ার বিএনপি দিয়ে হবে না। যে তারেক জিয়া হাওয়া ভবন গঠনের মাধ্যমে বিএনপির অনানুষ্ঠানিক মৃত্যু ঘটিয়েছিলেন, জন্ম দিয়েছিলেন আরেক বিএনপি যা কিনা শুরুতেই পড়ে গিয়েছিল দুর্নীতি, জঙ্গীবাদ, অর্থপাচার, যুদ্ধাপরাধী দলের পৃষ্ঠপোষকতার অতল গহবরে। তার প্রয়াত পিতা যে দলের জন্ম দিয়েছিলেন এবং তার মাতা আশির দশকের গোড়াতে চরম সংকটে যে দলকে রক্ষা করেছিলেন, এক দশকের কম সময় নিয়ে এসেছিলেন রাষ্ট্রীয় ক্ষমতায়, সেই দলের বিনাশ ঘটেছে তারেক জিয়ার নেতৃত্বে। দেড় দশকে দলের এই হাল তিনি করে ছেড়েছেন - অবসন্ন, বিপর্যস্ত এবং দিকভ্রান্তহীন। পনের বছর পরে প্রতিষ্ঠাকালীন নেতৃত্বের মনে হয়েছে- এই বিএনপি দিয়ে আর সম্ভব নয়।
২০০৮ সালের জাতীয় সংসদ নির্বাচনে বিএনপির করুণ পরাজয়ের কারণ দল হিসেবে তারা মূল্যায়ন করতে ব্যর্থ হয়েছে। তাদের কথা-বার্তায় মনে হয়েছে মঈনউদ্দিন-ফখরুদ্দিন আওয়ামী লীগের সাথে ষড়যন্ত্র করে ক্ষমতা তুলে দিয়ে গেছে। জনগণের ভূমিকা মূল্যায়ন না করে এবং নির্বাচনী ফল সম্পর্কে বস্তুনিষ্ঠ মূল্যায়ন না করে এই নেতিবাচক বক্তব্য কখনই জনগণের কাছে গ্রহনযোগ্য হয়নি। এ সময় থেকেই ২০১৫ সালের মার্চ পর্যন্ত দেশের রাজনীতিতে বিএনপি কখনই নেতিবাচক বক্তব্য বা কর্মকান্ড থেকে রেরিয়ে আসতে পারেনি। এ কারণে যেকোন আন্দোলন, সংগ্রাম,বক্তব্য সীমাবদ্ধ থেকেছে পরিবার ও ব্যক্তিকেন্দ্রিকতায় - যা জনসম্পৃক্ততা আনতে পারেনি। ২০০৯ সাল থেকে শুরু করে ২০১২ পর্যন্ত বিএনপি যতগুলি হরতাল করেছে, প্রায় সবগুলিই ছিল তারেক কেন্দ্রিক। ফলে সমর্থক জনগোষ্ঠির মধ্যে সৃষ্টি হয় স্থায়ী একটি পারসেপশন-খালেদা জিয়ার পুত্রস্নেহের কাছে পরাজিত হয়েছে দলের নীতি আদর্শ। অন্তত: যে দলের নেতৃত্ব দিয়েছেন তাঁর স্বামী প্রয়াত রাষ্ট্রপতি জিয়া এবং পরবর্তীতে তিনি। সম্ভবত: স্নেহের দায় বয়ে বেড়াতে হচ্ছে তাঁকে, দলকে, দেশকে-এর শেষ কোথায় সেটি তিনি নিজেও কি বলতে পারবেন?
২০০১ সাল থেকে ডি ফ্যাক্টো নেতা হিসেবে তারেক জিয়া দল চালিয়েছেন। এক্ষেত্রে তিনি সবসময় প্রধান্য দিয়েছেন হাওয়া ভবনের অনুসারীদের। দলের প্রতিষ্ঠাকালীন জেষ্ঠ নেতারা তার কাছে ছিলেন সবসময়ই উপেক্ষিত। ফলে ঐসব নেতারা দলীয় সিদ্ধান্তের সাথে যুক্ত থাকতে পারেননি। মিডিয়ায় কিছুটা সক্রিয় থাকলেও দলীয় কর্মকান্ডে তারা হয়ে পড়েন নিস্ক্রিয়। সাধারনত: ক্ষমতার বাইরে থাকাকালে দল আরো সংগঠিত থাকে। নেতা-কর্মীদের মধ্যে দুরত্ব কমে যায়, সমঝোতা-সমন্বয় বাড়ে। বিএনপির তৃণমূলে সমন্বয়-সমঝোতা থাকলেও কেন্দ্রীয় নেতৃত্বে সেটি দীর্ঘদিন ধরে অনুপস্থিত। এমনকি বিএনপির দলীয় সিদ্ধান্তের ক্ষেত্রে স্ট্যান্ডিং কমিটি, খোদ খালেদা জিয়াকেও কিংকর্তব্যবিমূঢ় দেখা গেছে। এর সবচেয়ে বড় উদাহরন হচ্ছে, ২০১৫ সালের ৫ জানুয়ারি অবরুদ্ধ খালেদা জিয়ার আন্দোলন কর্মসূচি ঘোষণা। এটি জনগণের কাছে স্পষ্ট হয়ে উঠেছিল যে, তিনি লাগাতার যে কর্মসূচির ঘোষণা দিলেন সেটি তাঁর কাছেও পরিস্কার নয়।
অন্যদিকে, দেশের অন্যতম বৃহৎ রাজনৈতিক দল হিসেবে গত আট বছরে দলটিতে একজন স্থায়ী মহাসচিব নিয়োগ দেয়া হয়নি, কারণ এই নিয়োগ নির্ভর করে তারেক জিয়ার মতামতের ওপর। এজন্যই দলীয় প্রধান হিসেবে খালেদা জিয়ার অনেক সিদ্ধান্ত নিয়ে প্রশ্ন থাকলেও দলীয় নেতৃত্ব জানেন, এক্ষেত্রে মাতৃস্নেহ প্রভাবক হিসেবে কাজ করে, সেজন্য এ নিয়ে প্রশ্ন তোলা হয়না। আওয়ামী লীগকে মোকাবেলা করতে তিনি যে ২০ দলীয় জোটটি গঠন করেছেন সেখানে প্রায় সব দলই নামসর্বস্ব। এর মধ্যে রয়েছে যুদ্ধাপরাধের দায়ে অভিযুক্ত জামায়াত, মৌলবাদী ৪টি দল, রয়েছে দন্ডিত আসামীর দলসহ বেশ কয়টি ছোট ছোট নামসর্বস্ব দল এবং তারা বিএনপির জন্য সম্পদ না হয়ে দায় হয়ে দাড়িয়েছে। এদের নিয়ে জোট করে বিএনপি কতটা লাভবান হয়েছে, সেটা তারাই ভাল বলতে পারবেন। কিন্তু পুরোনো জোট শরিক জামায়াতকে সাথে রেখে তাদের কৃত যুদ্ধাপরাধসহ সকল অপকর্মের দায় বিএনপিকেই বহন করতে হচ্ছে।
সামরিক শাসক এরশাদকে বৈধতা দেয়ার জন্য ১৯৮৬ সালের জাতীয় সংসদ নির্বাচন বয়কট করে অসামান্য রাজনৈতিক প্রজ্ঞার পরিচয় দিয়েছিলেন খালেদা জিয়া। তাঁর এ অনমনীয়তা এবং সামরিক শাসন বিরোধী আন্দোলনে দৃঢ়তা নেতৃত্বের এক উঁচুমাত্রায় তাঁকে প্রতিষ্ঠিত করেছিল। যার ফল তিনি পেয়েছিলেন ১৯৯১ সালের জাতীয় নির্বাচনে। বিএনপি রাষ্ট্রীয় ক্ষমতায় আসীন হয়েছিল। দলীয় গঠনতন্ত্রে রাষ্ট্রপতি শাসিত পদ্ধতি থাকা সত্বেও সংসদীয় পদ্ধতির সরকার ফিরিয়ে আনার ব্যাপারে তিনি মুখ্য ভূমিকা পালন করেছিলেন। নানা সীমাবদ্ধতা ও রাষ্ট্র পরিচালনায় নতুন হলেও ১৯৯১-৯৬ মেয়াদে খালেদা জিয়া রাজনৈতিক পরিপক্কতার পরিচয় দিয়েছিলেন। কিন্তু প্রবল সম্ভাবনার মুখে দাঁড়িয়ে সংসদীয় পদ্ধতির বদলে প্রধানমন্ত্রী শাসিত সরকারই কায়েম করেছিলেন,যা ছিল সামরিক শাসন বিরোধী আন্দোলনের মূলগত আকাঙ্খার বিপরীত।
ইতিহাস সাক্ষ্য দেবে, গণতান্ত্রিক কাঠামোবিহীন একটি দল এবং সরকারে তাঁর একক কর্তৃত্ব ও নেতৃত্ব মধ্যপন্থী দল হিসেবে বিকাশের বদলে বিএনপিকে পেছনে নিয়ে যেতে থাকে। দলের মধ্যে দেখা দেয় ডানপন্থার প্রতি প্রবল ঝোঁক। পরিনামে জামায়াতের সাথে জোটবদ্ধতা ও পরবর্তীকালে জঙ্গীবাদকে পৃষ্ঠপোষকতার দায় নিতে হয় মুক্তিযোদ্ধা জিয়াউর রহমান প্রতিষ্ঠিত এবং সামরিক শাসনের বিরুদ্ধে লড়াইয়ে ঋদ্ধ দল বিএনপিকে। সাথে যুক্ত হয় তার পুত্রের রাজনৈতিক অপরিনামদর্শিতা এবং সকল ক্ষমতা কুক্ষিগত করার প্রবণতা। এজন্যই ঠিক দুই যুগ পরে প্রায় ৩৫ শতাংশ জনসমর্থনপুষ্ট এই রাজনৈতিক দল এখন অস্তিত্ব রক্ষার লড়াইয়ে লিপ্ত। যুদ্ধাপরাধ, জঙ্গীবাদ, দুর্নীতির বিরুদ্ধে অবস্থান পরিস্কার করতে না পারা এবং ২০১৪ সালের জাতীয় নির্বাচন বর্জনের ঘোষণা দলটিকে বিপর্যস্ত করে তোলে। এ অবস্থায় বিএনপি নেতৃত্ব মূল্যায়ন করতে সক্ষম হয়েছে যে, ৩ দফা আন্দোলনে চরম ব্যর্থতার পরে এই বিএনপি দিয়ে হবে না।
কি হবে বিএনপির আগামী রাজনৈতিক কৌশল? প্রবল প্রতিপক্ষ আওয়ামী লীগ এবং কর্তৃত্ববাদী এই সরকারের মোকাবেলায় জনগণকে সম্পৃক্ত করতে কি লক্ষ্যভেদী কৌশল তারা নির্ধারন করবেন - সেটিই এখন রাজনৈতিক বিশ্লেষকদের কাছে সবচেয়ে বড় কৌতুহলের বিষয়। সবসময়ই বড় ধরনের সংকট সুযোগও সৃষ্টি করে থাকে। বড় প্রমান হচ্ছে,১৯৮২ সালের পরে ধ্বংসস্তূপ থেকে বিএনপিকে দেশের অন্যতম বৃহৎ রাজনৈতিক শক্তি হিসেবে প্রতিষ্ঠিত হতে নেতৃত্ব দিয়েছিলেন খালেদা জিয়া। এক অর্থে নতুন রাজনৈতিক শক্তি হিসেবে আবির্ভূত হয়েছিল বিএনপি। পর্যবেক্ষণের বিষয় হচ্ছে, আগামীতে তারা জনগণের শক্তিতে বলীয়ান হয়ে রাজনীতির মাঠে ফিরে আসতে পারবেন, নাকি বরন করবেন অতীতের মুসলিম লীগ বা ন্যাশনাল আওয়ামী পার্টির করুণ পরিণতি?

সম্প্রতি বাংলাদেশের টিভি উপস্থাপক অঞ্জন রায় মুক্তিযুদ্ধে ভারতীয় বাহিনীর অবদানের জন্য মনুমেন্ট নির্মাণের দাবি করেছে। তার মতে, বাংলাদেশের মুক্তিযুদ্ধে প্রায় ৪ হাজার ভারতীয় সেনা নিহত এবং ১০ হাজার আহত হয়েছে।
খুব ভালো কথা। আসুন এবার দেখি বাংলাদেশের মুক্তিযুদ্ধের সময় ভারতীয় সেনাবাহিনীর অবদান কোন অংশে ছিলো---না আমার মুখে নয়, ঐতিহাসিক ও মুক্তিযোদ্ধাদের মুখেই শুনি।

Confirm reports of U.S. arming Middle East jihadists
NEW YORK – More than 100 pages of previously classified Department of Defense and Department of State documents implicate the Obama administration in a cover-up to obscure the role Hillary Clinton and the State Department played in the rise of ISIS.
The documents were obtained in a Freedom of Information Act lawsuit filed by the Washington watchdog Judicial Watch.
They confirm WND reporting over the past three years of evidence that U.S. Ambassador Christopher Stevens was involved in shipping weapons from Benghazi to support the al-Qaida-affiliated militias fighting the Bashar al-Assad regime in Syria, effectively arming the Sunni jihadists who morphed into ISIS.
The documents further confirm WND reporting that the goal of the terrorists behind the Benghazi attack that killed Stevens was to force the release of Omar Abdul Rahman, the "blind sheik" in U.S. prison serving a life sentence for his involvement in the 1993 bombing of the World Trade Center, and to avenge death of a prominent Libyan al-Qaida leader killed by a U.S. drone strike in Pakistan.
"These documents are jaw-dropping," said Judicial Watch President Tom Fitton. "No wonder we had to file more FOIA lawsuits and wait over two years for them."
Fitton referenced in particular a Defense Department document from the Defense Intelligence Agency, DIA, dated Sept. 12, 2012. It documents that the attack on the Benghazi compound had been carefully planned by the al-Qaida and Muslim Brotherhood-linked Brigades of the Captive Omar Abdul Rahman, BOCAR, which aimed "to kill as many Americans as possible."
The document, dated the day after the Benghazi attack, was sent to then-Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, then-Defense Secretary Leon Panetta, the Joint Chiefs of Staff and the Obama White House National Security Council.
"If the American people had known the truth – that Barack Obama, Hillary Clinton and other top administration officials knew that the Benghazi attack was an al-Qaida terrorist attack from the get-go – and yet lied and covered this fact up – Mitt Romney might very well be president," Fitton observed.
"These documents also point to connection between the collapse in Libya and the ISIS war – and confirm that the U.S. knew remarkable details about the transfer of arms from Benghazi to Syrian jihadists," Fitton stated.
He said the documents "show that the Benghazi cover-up has continued for years and is only unraveling through our independent lawsuits."
"The Benghazi scandal just got a whole lot worse for Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton," Fitton said.
Plan to release the blind sheik
The heavily redacted Defense Department "information report" provides additional evidence for a WND article Jan. 27 reporting that James "Ace" Lyons – a former four-star admiral who served as the commander in chief of the U.S. Pacific Fleet and a founding member of the Citizens' Commission on Benghazi – proposed that the attack was an Obama administration-orchestrated kidnapping attempt that went "terribly wrong."
Lyons speculated that the Obama administration wanted to give the al-Qaida-affiliated rebels operating in conjunction with the Libyan Muslim Brotherhood an opportunity to kidnap Stevens and exchange him for the blind Sheik. The purpose of the plan, Lyons says, may have been to furnish the Obama administration with a pretext to justify to the American public the release of the blind sheik to then-Egyptian President Mohamed Morsi, complying with a request Morsi made in his 2012 acceptance speech on becoming president of Egypt.
The Department of Defense documents released by Judicial Watch further reveals that a-Qaida chief Ayman al-Zawahiri sent BCOAR leader Abdul Baset, AZUZ, into Libya to seek revenge "for the U.S. killing of Aboyahiye (ALALIBY) in Pakistan."
The documents provide additional evidence for a 2013 WND story reporting the Benghazi attack was in response to Zawahiri's request to avenge the U.S. drone killing of Libyan al-Qaida leader Abu Yahya al-Libi in Pakistan's Waziristan tribal area June 4, 2012.
CIA 'not well organized' narrative disputed
The newly released DOD and State Department documents also differ from the account of the Benghazi attack Michael Morell, the recently retired CIA deputy director, gives in his current book, "The Great War of Our Time." On Page 206, he argues that viewing a CIA video of the Benghazi attack made in "real time" caused him to conclude that "with little or no advance planning, extremists in Benghazi made some phone calls, gathered a group of like-minded individuals to go to the TMF."
In Morell's narrative, the 9/11 Benghazi attack "was not well organized" but "seemed to be more of a mob that had come to the TMF with the intent of breaching the compound and seeing what damage they could do."
"When you assess the information from the video, there are few signs of a well-thought-out plan, few signs of command and control, few signs of organization, few signs of even the most basic military tactics in the attack on the TMF," Morrell said.
"Some of the attackers were armed with small arms; many were not armed at all. No heavy weapons were seen on the videotape," Morell continued. "Many of the attackers, after entering through the front gate, ran past buildings to the other end of the compound, behaving as if they were thrilled just to have overrun the compound. They did not appear to be looking for Americans to harm. They appeared intent on looting and conducting vandalism."
Morell stressed that the Obama administration, despite his objections to the contrary, has refused to make available for public viewing the yet classified CIA "real time" video of the Benghazi attack.
Weapons shipped to Syria
Judicial Watch also noted the DOD documents released this week contain the first official documentation that the Obama administration knew that weapons were being shipped from the Port of Benghazi to rebel troops in Syria.
An October 2012 DOD report confirmed:
Weapons from the former Libya military stockpiles were shipped from the port of Benghazi, Libya to the Port of Banias and the Port of Borj Islam, Syria. The weapons shipped during late-August 2012 were Sniper rifles, RPGs, and 125 mm and 155mm howitzers missiles.
During the immediate aftermath of, and following the uncertainty caused by, the downfall of the (Qaddafi) regime in October 2011 and up until early September of 2012, weapons from the former Libya military stockpiles located in Benghazi, Libya were shipped from the port of Benghazi, Libya to the ports of Banias and the Port of Borj Islam, Syria. The Syrian ports were chosen due to the small amount of cargo traffic transiting these two ports. The ships used to transport the weapons were medium-sized and able to hold 10 or less shipping containers of cargo.
A DIA document further detailed:
The weapons shipped from Syria during late-August 2012 were Sniper rifles, RPG's and 125mm and 155mm howitzers missiles. The numbers for each weapon were estimated to be: 500 Sniper rifles, 100 RPG launchers with 300 total rounds, and approximately 400 howitzers missiles [200ea – 125mm and 200ea – 155 mm.]
The heavily redacted document does not disclose who was shipping the weapons.
Another Defense Intelligence Agency report, written in August 2012, the same time period the U.S. was monitoring weapons flows from Libya to Syria, said that the opposition in Syria was driven by al-Qaida and other extremist Muslim groups: "the Salafist, the Muslim Brotherhood, and AQI are the major forces driving the insurgency in Syria."
Judicial Watch noted the sectarian direction of the war in Syria was predicted to have dire consequences for Iraq, which included the "grave danger" of the rise of ISIS.
The DIA document noted the following:
This creates the ideal atmosphere for AQI [al Qaeda Iraq] to return to its old pockets in Mosul and Ramadi, and will provide a renewed momentum under the presumption of unifying the jihad among Sunni Iraq and Syria, and the rest of the Sunnis in the Arab world against what it considers one enemy, the dissenters. ISI could also declare an Islamic state through its union with other terrorist organizations in Iraq and Syria, which will create grave danger in regards to unifying Iraq and the protection of its territory.
Judicial Watch commented that some of the "dire consequences" are blacked out but the DIA presciently warned one such consequence would be the "renewing facilitation of terrorist elements from all over the Arab world entering into Iraqi Arena."
On Feb. 26, Judicial Watch has reported on State Department documents obtained by the Washington-based watchdog organization in a separate FOIA lawsuit that revealed aides for then-Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, including her then-chief of staff Cheryl Mills, knew from the outset that the Benghazi mission compound was under attack by armed assailants tied to a terrorist group.

All this seems almost out of mythology! Yet here in Hindustan, an institute by the name of IIT Madras, has 'de-recognised' a student study circle named after Ambedkar devoted to studying his philosophy. Clearly the Ambedkarite revolution has many hurdles to cross before 'equality, liberty, fraternity' becomes a part of the culture here.

Media reports that Hindus have top position in Bangladesh Administration as 14 out of 22 additional secretaries being Hindu.
কয়েকদিন আগে আব্দুল্লাহিল আমান আযমী তার ফেসবুকে প্রথম একটি সচিব তালিকা প্রকাশ করেন। ঐ তালিকায় দেখা যায় বর্তমানে ২২ জন অতিরিক্ত সচিবের ১৪ জন হিন্দু, ৮জন মুসলমান । এটি নিয়ে সামাজিক মাধ্যমে তোলাপাড় বয়ে যাচ্ছে। অনেকে এই তালিকায় দেখে হতবাক হয়েছেন।

जार्ज फर्नांडीस के नेतृत्व मे 1974 मे हुई एतिहासिक रेल हड़ताल के वक़्त हमारी उम्र 15 साल थी l जार्ज फर्नांडीस किशोर अवस्था मे हमारे हीरो थे l हम उनका भाषण सुनने घर वालों को बिना बताए ,बिना टिकिट पिपरिया से इटारसी गए थे l बिना टिकिट यात्रा का यह पहला मौका था l इसके बाद इमरजेंसी लग गई l इसी दौरान अखबार और दिनमान ,धर्मयुग जैसी पत्रिका पढ़ने का चस्का लगा l इमरजेंसी मे सरकार का गुणगान , इंद्रा गांधी के बीस सूत्र और संजय गांधी के पाँच सूत्र की बहुत चर्चा होती थी l इन्दिरा गांधी की तानाशाही का मुक़ाबला करने के लिए जार्ज फर्नांडीस भूमिगत हो गए थे और साथियो के साथ मिलकर तानाशाह सरकार को अपदस्थ करने का प्रयास कर रहे थे l इमरजेंसी के दौरान खबर आई कि जार्ज फर्नांडीस बड़ौदा डाइनाइमाइट कांड मे गिरफ्तार हो गए है l 1977 मे इमरजेंसी के बाद हुए लोकसभा चुनाव के समय जार्ज जेल मे थे ,उन्होने जेल से चुनाव लड़ा और बिहार के मुजफ्फरपुर से रिकॉर्ड मतो से जीते थे l
1980 के बाद जार्ज साहब न हमारे हीरो रहे और ना नेता l उड़ीसा और गुजरात दंगो मे उनके द्वारा क्लीन चिट देने से हम दुखी जरूर हुए थे l अपनी सांप्रदायिक राजनैतिक छवि के कारण भारत की राजनीति मे अछूत भाजपा को स्वीकार्य बनाने मे जार्ज साहब का योगदान रहा है l उल्लेखनीय है कि यही जार्ज फर्नांडीस 1979 मे दोहरी सदस्यता के मुद्दे पर जनता पार्टी तोड़ने वालों मे अगुआ थे l मोरारजी सरकार मे मंत्री बनकर उन्होने रेल कर्मचारियो और मजदूरो के साथ न्याय नहीं किया -- उनसे बहुत अपेक्षा थी l फिलहाल वे बीमार है l अपने भूतपूर्व नेता को सलाम l

Just because nothing has to be changed in the best interest of the masses and one brand would simply take over another brand as it is the name of the game!Black listed brand,however might be introduced with another branding and another set of the icons.
We have seen similar Brand War earlier while Cokes were found to be PESTED and no brand has been banned as yet.No brand would be banned either this time and media hype would transfer its focus to yet another sensation soonr or later as everyone has forgot the poisoned Coke and no one in India has opted for Nariyal Pani giving up the Coke.
However,Nestles's Maggi Noodles fiasco sent an alarm to all the food companies across the country. ET reports that Maggi's sales have plunged by 60 to 70 percent in the past two weeks. And the product is currently banned in Kerala.
Clearly if this could happen to Maggi, it could happen to any company. Therefore companies like PepsiCo which makes aerated drinks and Kurkure snacks have geared up to face the Food Safety and Drugs Administration's (FDA's) check on them.
All the companies have been cautiously watching the events unfold with Nestle and are actively exchanging notes with each other on how to cope with the possible mishaps again. Since food safety has come into the center stage again CEOs of the food companies are now engaging themselves with newer methods for market research and better ways of communication with the consumers.
The CEO of a multinational food giant told ET on condition of anonymity, "You never know which food inspector will come next and examine our products in which part of the country. We have to be best prepared for something like this." Such is the panic in the industry.
Mayank Shah, group product manager of Parle Products, stated to ET that the Maggi episode served as a warning for all food makers. He also said, "With new guidelines on food safety expected, we are planning to engage with consumers a lot more and talk to them consistently through ads and declarations, instead of waiting for something like this to happen. It's critical to keep communication with key stakeholders constant and transparent."
Companies are bound to take the safety issues extremely seriously as the previous food safety row has virtually dropped the sales of fizzy drinks in India by almost 70-80 percent. Companies which expressed their efforts towards delivery of food safety are Yum Brands, which own Pizza Hut and Taco Bell, Parle Products and PepsiCo.

The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has slashed the projection for output growth for 2015-16 from 7.8 per cent in April to 7.6 per cent with a downward bias to reflect the uncertainties surrounding various risks. It also revised up its inflation projection to 6 per cent by January 2016 due to monsoon risks.Indian Express reports.
The Central Statistics Office has revised downwards its estimate of India's gross value added (GVA) at basic prices for 2014-15 by 30 basis points from the advance estimates. "Domestic economic activity remains moderate in first quarter of 2015-16.
Agricultural activity was adversely affected by unseasonal rains and hailstorms in north India during March 2015, impinging on an estimated 94 lakh hectares of area sown under the rabi crop," RBI Governor Raghuram Rajan said while releasing the monetary policy.
Reflecting this, the third advance estimates of the Ministry of Agriculture indicate a contraction in foodgrains production by more than 5 per cent in relation to the preceding year's level. Successive estimates have been pointing to a worsening of the situation, with the damage to crops like pulses and oilseeds — where buffer foodstocks are not available in the central pool — posing an upside risk to food inflation.
According to the RBI, merchandise export growth has weakened steadily since July 2014 and entered into contraction from January 2015 through April, with a recent shrinking of even volumes exported. The deterioration in export performance affected economies across Asia as global demand fell and the fall in commodity prices impacted terms of trade for commodity exporters.
From December 2014 onwards, merchandise import growth also turned negative, led by a sharp decline in the volume of oil imports as inventory build-up by refineries subsided. Gold imports spiked in the month of March and remained elevated in April owing to festival demand and regulatory relaxations. Notably, the volume of imports has been recording increases, despite the value decline, the RBI said.
Given these developments, the reduction in the current account deficit resulting from the sharp decline in oil prices has begun to reverse, though the size of the deficit is expected to be contained to about 1.5 per cent of GDP this year. "Net exports are, therefore, unlikely to contribute as much to growth going forward as they did in the past financial year," the RBI said.
"Consequently growth will depend more on a strengthening of domestic final demand," Rajan said.
While portfolio and direct foreign investment flows ere buoyant during 2014-15, with net foreign direct investment to India at $36.6 billion and net portfolio inflows at $41 billion, the year 2015-16 has begun with net portfolio outflows in the wake of a reduction in global portfolio allocations to India.
